The Vierling Lab is in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts, on the third floor of the New Laboratory Sciences Building (LSL).
Dr. Elizabeth Vierling is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, having joined U Mass in January 2011 after 25 years at the University of Arizona in Tucson. At U Mass the lab is an active member of the Molecular & Cellular Biology (MCB) graduate program, the Plant Biology (PB) graduate program, the ICE IGERT and the Chemistry & Biology Interface graduate program (CBI). Research conducted in the lab focuses on the structure and function of molecular chaperones and the mechanism of plant response to environmental stress. The lab uses biochemistry, classical genetics as well as molecular genetics and genomics techniques to address basic biological questions.
