Congratulations to Mary!
Mary Fowler is starting a new full time job at Manus Biosynthesis on Monday. It is a small start up Cambridge which focuses on manipulating metabolic pathways in E. coli to produce rare plant products. The company was started after the founders were able to produce oxygenated taxol precursors from bacteria.
Mary is excited about the position because she is going to do some cloning in the beginning, but they will also teach her to do some analytical assays on the metabolites being produced from their strains. Eventually she might be assigned the task of caring for some of their plants. In Mary’s email she said, “My experiences in the Vierling Lab were the reason my application caught their attention.”
