Vierling Lab Coordinates with Amherst Regional HS

This winter the Vierling Lab began coordinating with the Amherst Regional High School Science Department. Using funds from the NSF grant entitled, “Linking Reactive Nitrogen Metabolism and Redox Homeostasis in Plants,” the Vierling Lab purchased four plant growing stations, including everything from the shelving to seeds. The stations are currently in use by Biology, AP Biology, and Environmental Science classes. This summer the Vierling lab will help to pay for plant station curriculum development and several teachers will be working in the lab to get training and hands-on experience with new techniques and machines.

Above – Science Dept Chair, Nat Woodruff shows off the old system. Below – Woodruff points out the different experiments in the new system to Prof. Vierling.
